LA2016 SYDNEY: FM[X] What Would A Feminist Methodology Sound Like?

FM[X] Sydney 2016: What Would a Feminist Methodology Sound Like? is an adventure into the sound of new contemporary feminism featuring 20 trailblazing Oz/NZ artists, storytellers, musicians and DJs.

Dates: Thurs 1 Sep – Fri 2 Sep | 6pm-10pm (Doors open from 5:30pm)

Presented by Liquid Architecture, FM[X] Sydney 2016: What Would A Feminist Methodology Sound Like? is an adventure into the sound of new contemporary feminism. After 2015’s epic inaugural event, FM[X] is back, this time in Sydney at firstdraft with 20 trailblazing artists, storytellers, musicians and DJs from Sydney, NSW, QLD, TAS and NZ.

Over two nights we will be sounding feminist thinking through noise and communion; poetry and performance; indigenous storytelling and refugee listening; intergenerational love and critical dance. FM[X] Sydney 2016 is a proudly inclusive event giving new voice to contemporary feminism’s intersection with gender, sexism, colonialism and race via poetry, comedy, music and dancing.

Featuring a magnificent lineup of diverse Australian artists such as Lorna & Aunty Jenny Munro (NSW), Clare Cooper (NSW), Mad Boots (QLD), Coco Solid (NZ), Maysa Abouzeid (VIC), the event will kick off with indigenous poetry and intergenerational conversations by activists and artists, and culminate each night in a Feminist Dance Party hosted by Brisbane’s legendary provocateur, Sezzo Snot.

According to FM[X] Sydney 2016 curators Frances Barrett and Danni Zuvela, “there are many feminisms, and many speaking for feminism. Instead of looking for answers, or speaking for women, we have some questions for feminism coming from within systems of sonic affect, or using sound as an acoustic mirror for society.” All welcome to come, listen dance, chill, and be a part of this evolving conversation.

Featuring: Lorna & Aunty Jenny Munro (NSW) – Gabi Briggs (NSW) – Saba Vasefi (NSW) – Coco Solid (NZ) – Maysa Abouzeid (VIC) – Chloe Alison Escott (TAS) – Linda Dement (NSW) – Evelyn Araluen Corr (NSW) – Cinnamon Templeton (NSW) – Clare Cooper (NSW) – Roslyn Helper (NSW) – Madboots (QLD) – Rebecca Ross (QLD – Leila El Rayes (NSW) – Beth Sometimes (NT) and Caroline Anderson (VIC) – Feminist Dance Party curated by Sezzo (Milkshake) (QLD) with Hannah Brontë, Del Lumanta, Kimchi Princi and Matka – FM[X] BBQ powered by Salote Tawale (NSW)
