Display Home the Act of Living

Esther Stewart

Opening 01.05.15 6-8pm
Artist Talks 23.05.15 6-7pm

Esther Stewart’s hardedge abstract paintings and experimental sculptures explore repetition and composition through colour and line. While investigating the boundaries between non – representation and representation Display Home, the act of living' explored ideas of domestication, the home and decoration.

Stewart’s paintings mimic the lines of architecture and echo the visual language of plans, maps and interior spaces. In this unique iteration her paintings will frame one another to enact spatial relationships that will inform new and alternative interpretations of her work. Stewart has incorporated new painting techniques into these works, experimenting with patterned areas that mimic traditional domestic tiles and fabrics of interiors.
