Exit Promises 2.0
Opening 07.03.18 6-8pm
Artist Talks 07.03.18 6-7pm
Exit Promises 2.0 is a sound world rooted in desire for potential and improvement. Existing as a speculative venue; pure healing frequencies and multilayered voices are enclosed in electronic beat heavy soundscapes.
The show is a site of promise but also functions alongside nuances of sonic influence and the contradictions within rational neoliberal thought; promises that are filtered through occult and psycho-spiritual manifestations.
The site satisfies the desire for frequencies to augment moods and alter futures – stemming from a personal intrigue with online modes of sonic healing and contemporary sound rituals.
In early 2017, Hunt began experimentation with affecting frequencies whilst on residence at Cite International Des Arts, Paris.
Laura Hunt is an electronic musician and sound artist based in Sydney. Her music is made using both hardware and sample based digital instruments. Her sound practice has seen her perform extensively locally, interstate and internationally in Europe and New Zealand. She has released music with various collaborative projects (WDK and Ghastly Spats) on labels RIP society, Body Promise and Paradise Daily. Exit Promises 2.0 is an extension of a performance that took place in Bucharest, for the Polish Contemporary Dance Festival in mid 2017. Hunt has an honours degree in Fine Arts from Sydney College of the Arts. Her current sound art practice stems from an interest in virtual modes of healing and contemporary sonic rituals. She creates sound installations using video and temporal sculpture works about where desire, politics, occult, and sound intersects.
