Tanya Cubric (b.1991, Tiohtià:ke/Montréal) is a multidisciplinary artist of Balkan Heritage working across performance, video and installation. She was raised between the UK and Serbia and studied in France and Australia. She graduated with a Masters in Fine Art from RMIT University in 2024 and is currently based in Naarm/Melbourne.
Cubric's practice is shaped by her transnational upbringing and explores how social contexts influence the narratives we build about our lives. Drawing on her theatre and film background, her practice employs satirical characters, improvised performances, ready-made materials, video, and sound. Fantasy and play are used as forms of resistance to challenge oppressive social stereotypes.
Tanya received Arts Council UK funding (2022) and was a supported Artist in Residence at Tropical Lab in Singapore (2023). She was awarded the RMIT Mary Oliphant Graduate Award (2024) and the ACMI X + RMIT Graduate Artist in Residence programme (2025-2026).
