@world_boo

Levent Can Kaya is a curator, writer and researcher based on Dharug country. Through visual culture, he observes the longue durée of capitalism— its contradictions and cycles in ancient, contemporary and future worlds. He uses historical materialist methods to interrogate the messy interrelations of policing and incarceration; the construction of identities; images and digital culture; and globalism. His current research at UNSW explores how the enforcement of sexual norms can be ‘seen’ in Sydney’s visual archive—from early colonial artefacts to the camp aesthetics of the commodification of sexuality. He co-directs Pari and co-coordinates Kudos.
