Quinn Franks
Quinn Franks is a Narrm, Melbourne based 3D artist and animator who uses emerging technologies across film and interactive media to create surreal, character-driven work. His practice is multidisciplinary and experimental– incorporating film, video games, interactive media, and live performance. Quinn’s work often explores themes of identity, isolation, and interpersonal tension through a combination of new media, bizarre imagery, humour and unhinged characters, in particular creatures. Quinn completed both his Bachelor’s and Honours in Animation at the Victorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) from 2019 – 2022, in which his research focused on experimental approaches to 3D animation and virtual production pipelines. Quinn has exhibited his work internationally, including at the 2023 Ann Arbor Film Festival where he was invited as a panellist to promote in-depth explorations of animated cinema as an art form and to present emerging practices within 3D experimental animation. In 2024 he was invited to Berlin to study and attend the Pictoplasma Academy and Conference. Most recently throughout 2025 he has presented works at ACMI, Now or Never Festival, Freeplay Angles and Play Now, and is currently developing the video game Brine Pool under the VicScreen Originate Games Grant.
