Antoinette O’Brien is an established ceramicist, with her artistic expression extending beyond traditional mediums that include concrete, ice, frozen milk, beer and immersive intervention-style installations. She is deeply committed to strengthening the connection between people and their environment by celebrating them as she experiences them. Arresting faces of figurative works gaze out with a lifelike intensity, revealing a consideration of painterly techniques with a signature style and palate which awarded her the Hurford Hardwood Portraiture Prize judged by Abdul Abdullah in (‘19). Antoinette had a solo show at Lismore Regional Gallery (‘21) was recently a keynote speaker at Ceramics Triennale (‘22), a finalist in the Woollahra Art Prize (‘22), and awarded a residency at the Corridor Project Cowra (‘23) and Expansive Encounters Exchange Program, Otautahi Christchurch (‘23)
