We are Chevron Hassett (the artist) and Robert Laking (the curator), two Wellington-based artists and writers of Māori and Pākehā descent. Chevron’s art-practice is community-engaged and spans photography, mural painting, and sculpture. Robert has a research-based conceptual art-practice which stems from his keen interest in language and writing.
Hassett's recent bodies of work are situated around state-housing communities and cultural identities, the development of urbanisation within the Pacific and the growing Polynesian diaspora.
Laking was the 2018 Curatorial Intern at the New Zealand Portrait Gallery. He is currently working on two curatorial projects, developing his studio practice and furthering his knowledge of Te Ao Māori.
