Georgia Hutchison is a trans-disciplinary practitioner working within curating, education and design — with a parallel practice crossing photography and assemblage. Her approach to creative, professional and pedagogical practice is curious and critical of our slippery encounters with material situations — seeking significance and vibrancy in things. Her work is philosophically-driven and design-led resulting in sensitive material, formal and spatial encounters.
Hutchison is living and working in Sydney, Australia. As an early career artist, she has exhibited widely across Australia and has been featured internationally. Her work is held in public and selected private collections in Australia and internationally, including MONA, NGA and V&A. Hutchison’s work has been published by Thames and Hudson UK, Perimeter Editions and various print and digital imprints locally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include ‘Lit from the Top’ at CCP (Melbourne, 2015); ‘Grey Grey’ at Bus Projects (Melbourne, 2015) and ‘Adult Contemporary’ at Edmund Pearce (Melbourne, 2014). She is currently managing the National Craft Initiative, a sessional academic at UNSW Built Environment and Art+Design, and resident studio artist at Firstdraft.
