harry.bridges_webb

harry.bridges_webb is one of the inaugural Firstdraft Micro Commission Artists.

In harry.bridges_webb’s Signal Orchestration [90-390, 120-420, 60-360], coded modules detect nearby signal activity (phones in proximity) and render these transmissions as sonic tones. The result of multiple modules responding in real time is a poetic field of frequency, which is at all times unique, living, and ephemeral. Within this work invisible signals become sound, as technology and connection are abstracted and re-formed in a sonic environment. This work reflects a humanistic relationship with technology, oFering an interface through which transmission between the invisible planes of the signal and consciousness manifest in a playful and angelic composition of connection. Across all her sonic installations, technology, sound, space and the body are treated as co-creative agents of sensory and connective dynamics.

harry.bridges-webb’s exploration of hidden systems to explore and understand our relationship to universal ephemeral constants such as time, the soul, the self, and social interconnections. She works with the material of sound as a relational and multisensory phenomenon, a ‘Post-Music’ treatment in which the sonic signal transcends the auditory to become a link between media, the body, and the social. Harry is a current MFA candidate at the National Art School, with notable works being acquired by the City of Sydney and featured in the NAS Artists Book prize. Her solo show, “touchgrass.wav” , opens at Airspace Projects with a performance on May 7th.
