Growing up with his father singing with musicians such as Walid Gholmiyeh, Hussein Kahil developed a passion for Arabic classical singing and learned Maqams inspired by Abdel Wahab and Om Kalthoum.
Hussein performed in school musical projects and carried his singing to Odessa, where he worked with local and Middle Eastern musicians performing in various cities of the USSR.
Hussein migrated to Canada and performed in underground festivals, returning to Lebanon to work for radio Sawt el Shaab as a music coordinator.
Over the past four years in Australia, Hussein has been part of Dandana as a male lead vocalist. He also recorded his first single cover "Rajaeni ya Zaman" by Marwan Mahfouz and it was played on SBS Arabic Radio.
"I lived the trauma of the Israeli invasion in Lebanon, a long occupation by a brutal enemy to our land, our culture, our water and our skies. My songs include a Mawwal, "Ghali Ya Janoub" and "Dar ya Dar". Both songs explain my journey with the occupation and leaving my beloved South at the age of 17, as I had no choice, fearing for my life and seeking safety." – Hussein Kahil
