Jodi Woodward

As a visual artist working in expanded drawing, photography and installation, my work explores the complexities of the human condition, identity, trauma and memory. Through a process driven auto-ethnographic framework I aim to investigate my relationship with the materials and examine the processes of repetition and endurance. Through the enduring physicality of the process of mark making, my work is an investigation into endurance, the repetitive process of making and the residual marks of the unwitnessed labour involved in the production of artwork.

Using the making process as a platform to explore the layers of identity revealing aspects of the self, memory and distortion. The layers and repetition in my work convey art making as lived experience, considering the corporeality and endurance of the artist infused with the performative mark – the act of making, examining perseverance and repetition as expanded drawing.
