Katrina Garvey is a Meanjin | Brisbane based photo-video-installation artists.
Katrina is profoundly prelingually d/Deaf. Katrina completed a Bachelor of Photography degree (majoring in Photojournalism and Documentary Practices) at the Queensland College of Art. Her practice explores deafness, sexuality, gender and language.
Katrina's recent exhibitions include Face Me: The Art of Deafhood, at Lismore Regional Gallery, and Streetlight: Meet Me There, at ElevatorARI. Katrina's work is included in the 2019 and 2020 editions of Loud and Luminous, a celebration of Australian women and nonbinary photographers, held in the National Library of Australia. Katrina was also a finalist in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award in 2023.
