Nadia Odlum is an artist whose investigation focuses on the properties of visual and spatial perception. Through the creation of experiences that disturb or highlight these processes, she seeks to grant the viewer a heightened awareness of their own body, and its existence in physical space. Through the implementation of kinetic and architectural elements, the work investigates the nature of perception as a skillful, bodily activity. The mental and perceptual faculties of each audience member are thus as much a medium in the work as the physical materials that led to its creation: through immersion in a challenging visual environment, the viewer is encouraged to recognize and engage with the physicality of their own processes of perception.
