The 2027 Callout is Now Live

Firstdraft is seeking proposals Australia-wide from artists, curators and artist-run initiatives (ARIS) for consideration in our 2027 Program. We invite ideas that champion experimentation, risk and inclusion. Proposals accepted online only until the 22nd of July.

All successful program participants are provided financial support, mentorship, and access to Firstdraft’s equipment and resources (including personnel). 

Caity Reynolds, Firstdraft’s Director, said: “Our annual callout is a huge moment in our calendar, and opportunity for us to connect with artists directly. As an artist-focused organisation, our exhibition program provides essential services for Australia’s burgeoning artists, including payment for their work and operational support to deliver keystone exhibitions at Firstdraft. Our program empowers artists to develop new ideas, push their practices and deliver ambitious, experimental projects without commercial constraints.”

Now in its fortieth year of operation, Firstdraft has been supporting emerging and early-career artists and bringing experimental practices to audiences since 1986. Initially established as an artist-run-initiative, Firstdraft now operates as a not-for-profit contemporary arts organisation with artists and arts workers positioned firmly at the centre of all we do.
