Micro Commission Program

Firstdraft’s inaugural micro commission is a professional development program designed to support five Sydney-based early-career artists to increase their professional capacity. We are inviting artists with limited exhibiting experience to pitch new works to be developed with the assistance of experienced producers, artists and/or technicians to be temporarily installed throughout non-gallery areas at Firstdraft’s venue at 13 - 17 Riley Street, Woolloomooloo.

We are seeking applications from artists eager to take risks with their practice, who are open to feedback and are looking for new contexts to present their work in. This program is suited for early-career artists of any age.

Examples of work you might pitch:

  • vinyl decals on windows

  • banner installation on Firstdraft building exterior (in courtyard)

  • activation of courtyard garden

  • sculptural installation in bathrooms

Artists must be based in the Greater Sydney region (including Western Sydney).
