Does an institution have a duty of care to its artists? Do we have a duty of care to ourselves? What does curatorial care even feel like?

(re)present: duty of care puts theories of care to the test through an embodied practice. This first iteration of a combined workshop and panel series attempts to foster an interactive space between audiences and panellists, exploring the role of institutional care, self-care, and curatorial care in relation to labour and wellbeing within the contemporary (especially emerging) visual arts sector.

(re)present is a collaborative event between Canvas: Arts & Ideas and Firstdraft that aims to develop tangible tools in conversation with audiences, artists, researchers, curators and academics. Comprised of a hybrid professional workshop/panel discussion, (re)present aims give space to lived experiences, inviting audiences to participate in ongoing conversations around safety, representation, and inclusion of emerging and marginalised artists in the visual arts sector.
