Where I end and you begin

Where I end and you begin

Amanda Wolf

Opening 06.06.15 6-8pm
Artist Talks 27.06.15 6-7pm

Amanda Wolf's Where I end and you begin responds to the teeming multiplicity of the body and explores the emotional and biological possibilities of the parasitic relationship. Through a decorative and hyper-colour collection of large-scale soft sculptures and stop motion videos, Wolf readdresses the body as both a physical and emotive landscape full of abject beauty and playful monstrosities. Combining the imaginary and autobiographical with occurrences in nature and the human body, Where I end and you begin examines the poetic connotations surrounding destructive dependency and the host body's sacrificial role as home.

Amanda Wolf is a contemporary artist who engages with themes related to the body. The foundation of Wolf's work lies in the process of hand sewing which is used to create large scale soft sculptures, costumes and stop motion animations. Wolf graduated with First Class Honours from the Queensland College of Art in 2013 and holds a Diploma of Fine Art from the Northern Melbourne Institute of Tafe (2005). Over the last decade, Wolf has exhibited extensively across Australia in group exhibitions. In 2014 she held a series of solo exhibitions at Sawtooth ARI, Launceston, The Hold, Brisbane and Strange Neighbour in Melbourne. Wolf currently works and lives in Brisbane.
