COMMUNITY CARE LABOUR DISCUSSION
Discussion facilitated by Renata Field and Okapi Neon
As most countries round the world under capitalism experience a failing health care system that is expensive and inaccessible, what can individuals and communities do to take care of each other? Society puts a lot of pressure on the individuals to take care of themselves in private or rely solely on family members or partners. Often people can be alienated from their biological families so that is not always an option and care needs to be shared with friends, partners and chosen family. Individual self care or care only shared with one other person can be overwhelming, impossible and isolating, so what are the difficulties and benefits of sharing care labour? What does care labour look like to you? How can communities best take care of each other?
PERSONALISE YOUR PILLBOX
Workshop
Many people have to take medication every day which can be a stressful, boring and annoying routine. Lots of Sickies have found decorating a pill box and making it into a symbol of self love and nurture can make taking medication into a more empowered and positive experience. Come grab a pill box and customize and bedazzle it to your own personal style! This will be an unsupervised workshop and all materials will be provided.
