Julian Hamman is a queer filmmaker & video artist based in Sydney, Australia. His practice combines elements of slow cinema and neorealist performance styles; often following desensitised youth who have become numb to the suffering of others.

His recent short film, PIGGY, was created during Playlab's CREATORS LAB under the guidance of Pedro Costa in Yucatán, Mexico, and premiered at the 2025 Sydney Film Festival under the FLUX (Art+Film) experimental strand.

For his docu-fiction video installation, KILLING FOR COMPANY, he was nominated for the Gosford Emerging Prize at the Gosford Regional Gallery, and Fisher’s Ghost Art Award at Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Combining non-professional actors and documentary techniques, his PARKLAND series played at a solo exhibition at LOT Projects in London, Confort Mental in Paris, and Revelation Film Festival in Perth.

Additionally, his video works have been featured in exhibitions for Pari, Bankstown Art Centre, UTS Gallery & Liveworks at Carriageworks
