Sue Jo Wright is a Deaf multidisciplinary artist based on Dharug and Bidjigal Country. Working across textiles, photography, and video storytelling, her practice places Auslan (Australian Sign Language) at its centre—offering a vivid and personal lens into the Deaf experience. Through layered visual narratives, she invites audiences to explore themes of identity, belonging, language, and cultural connection.

Sue’s work has been exhibited widely across Australia. In 2024, she presented her first solo exhibition, Signs of Time, at Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. Her other exhibition highlights include Dinner Table Syndrome at the Australian Design Centre, ArtScreen at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Face Me: the art of Deafhood at Lismore Regional Gallery. She has also participated in digital and disability-led exhibitions such as Headquarters, IDANCE and Flow Festival. Her work has been profiled by NAVA, featured in The Artist Files, and published across multiple media outlets including InStyle and TAFE NSW stories.

Sue is a six-time finalist in the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award and recipient of numerous recognitions, including the Australian Design Centre Award and the TAFE NSW Creative Design and Ideation Award. In addition to her arts practice, Sue is a respected Deaf consultant and educator
