Eleanor Evans
Eleanor Evans is an experimental animation artist and stop motion animator working in Canberra, Ngunnawal country. Her work experiments with the animation storytelling potential of different mediums focusing on an ever expanding collection of tactile materials such as yarn, felt, sand, clay, found objects and paper. Taking the lead from the materials themselves, their cultural context and limitations Eleanor’s work explores the connections between craft, family and impermanence.
After completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts with honors at the Australian National University in 2013 Eleanor went on to study a Masters of Stop Motion Animation at BAU Design School/The Central University of Catalonia (Barcelona) graduating in 2017 where she met her long term collaborator Giovanni Aguilar.
Working as Eleanor and Giovanni, they have created more than fifteen animated music videos and short films including animated musical segments for SBS and Nick Jr. In 2026 Eleanor & Giovanni were contracted to create the National Library of Australia’s projection for Enlighten which was projected onto the facade of the NLA from 27 February until 9 March 2026.
