Honey Trap Sound System is a sound collective and a social design project, creating space for femme folks to practice, experiment and develop their technical skills in audio, live events, production and music. A network of like-minded people, mentoring and supporting each other’s creative growth. They use the medium of the sound system to explore deeper narratives associated with their bodies, voices and claiming space.
Their work as a collective is an act of community and unity, re-writing narratives by means of action and practice: producing events, performing together, collaborating on music, building sound, mentoring across ages, dancing together and transforming urban space as a radical act of contemporary art. Honey Trap Sound System build on tradition and as they reclaim ownership from the patriarchy they widen definitions of what “Sound System Culture” represents in modern Australia and the world.
