Sarah Ong (she/her, b. 2000) is a Chinese-Malaysian, Vietnamese-Cambodian Australian emerging artist living in the unceded land of the Bidjigal people in Sydney’s Southwest. She has recently graduated with a Bachelors in Fine Arts and Science from the University of New South Wales.Through her artistic practice of sculpture and performance, Sarah investigates ideas about the value of effort, consumerism, sustainability, and immigrant labour. Sarah is interested in utilising organic materials from plants charged with socio-cultural influences to explore further how resources are valued. Sarah aims to evolve her art practice to challenge the perception of human effort and labour, and address the global economic issues which affect both art and our way of living.
