Join us for a screening of Director Hyun Lee’s ASIAN GIRLS followed by a Q&A panel (catering will also be included!). Afterwards come downstairs for a performance by Young Jin Sin and a rad DJ set by Rainbow Chan!
ASIAN GIRLS is a horror short film written and directed by Hyun Lee and produced by Hannah-Florence Macgregor. Completed in June 2017, it had its world premiere at SXSW Film Festival in 2018. It is one of three short films financed by the Screen NSW GENERATOR: Emerging Filmmakers Fund (GEFF).

Biographies
Hyun Lee is a writer / director / photographer in Sydney. Her essays and photographic work have appeared in art and fashion publications such as Ruins Magazine (London), the FdeC Reader (Tokyo) and 4A Centre for Contemporary Asian Art’s 4A Papers (Sydney). She is the writer and director of ASIAN GIRLS, a short film which was a recipient of the Screen NSW: Emerging Filmmakers’ Fund. Completed in mid 2017, it had its world premiere at South by Southwest Film Festival (SXSW) in March 2018.
Rainbow Chan is a vocalist, producer and multi-disciplinary artist who has built a reputation as one of the most innovative musicians in Australia. Driven by a DIY spirit, Chan melds catchy melodies and off-kilter beats made up of field-recordings and found sounds. Both heartbreaking and tender at once, her idiosyncratic brand of pop holds a mirror up to diasporic experiences, and also deeply personal tales of love and loss.
Young Jin Sin is a Korean Shaman based in Sydney. A shaman plays a role in mediating and interpreting the words of all the gods in-between heaven and earth for people to flourish and prosper. In a sense of duty as the shaman, Young administers prayer and counselling to help people overcome hardships and achieve their goals. Young will be performing a Hongsumaegi, the ceremony to connect and harmonise people dissolving and expelling misfortunes.
Tristan Fraser is a production designer with an extensive background in the high-end hospitality industry as a private caterer and chef. His work in film includes his role as the production designer of the short film "Asian Girls" where his contribution included the preparation and sourcing of props, food props and set dressing. Tristan has created canapes inspired by the food seen in the film, which will be served after the screening.
