Make It Darker is an investigation into endurance, the repetitive process of making and the residual marks of the unwitnessed labour involved in the production of artwork. The work explores art making as lived experience, considering the corporeality and endurance of the maker infused with the performative mark. Through the process of repetitious mark making, the work questions whether conditions of physical and emotional endurance, perseverance and persistence embedded within the creative process of making can or should be acknowledged.
Like a shroud of fractured memories Make It Darker is a brooding work that aims to examine perseverance and repetition as expanded drawing.
