Emma Cao

Communications Coordinator

Emma Cao is an arts worker living on the traditional lands of the Cadigal, Wangal and Bediagal clans of the Dharug nation.

Passionate about collective and collaborative living, they are committed to using their experiences to foster meaningful engagement and connection between art and the community. They are amused and inspired by ritualistic practices found in nature and our everyday routine as constructive tools and forms of healing. Their creative work and writing has appeared in exhibition at the artist-run initiative Pari, on the front cover and in editions of The Sydney Arts Student Society BIPOC Journal, Honi Soit and on merchandise for the University of Sydney’s Autonomous Collective Against Racism. When they’re not at Firstdraft, you can find Emma at the Powerhouse Museum, delivering programs and assisting in the production of Sydney Design Week 2023. They hold a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) majoring in Sociology and English from the University of Sydney.

Emma is in the office Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday.
