'Working Tiles' is an exhibition featuring works from 14 artists, designers, and makers, all operating within a shared studio environment. ‘Tiles’ gallery and studios are located on Gadigal and Wangal country, Lewisham.
The Studio hosts a variety of disciplines including printmaking, painting, sculpture, ceramics, design, architecture, and textiles.
‘Working Tiles’ highlights the individual works and ideas of each artist, while revealing the unintentional connections and shared values that flourish within a studio setting. Here, subconscious inspirations and cultural influences naturally converge, promoting collaboration and creative productivity.
The studio space has been adapted from a former butcher shop, corner store, residence, and drug front. It is now called the 'Tiles gallery,' a name that references the tiled former butcher's space, now home to the gallery.
These artists together embody a collection of people with a shared ambition to produce and present their work. "Working Tiles" demonstrates the vibrant energy that emerges when diverse creative minds come together.
As visitors navigate the exhibition, they are welcomed to experience the synergy and vibrancy of this shared artistic journey, appreciating the fresh perspectives and captivating creations that arise from this collective.
