Geyser
Luke Abdallah, Geyser, 2022, Synthetic Polymer on paper, 101 x 81cm
Created using dried agapantha flowers gathered from his home, Luke dipped the stems in paint and struck the surface repeatedly, evoking the force and rhythm of a geyser’s eruption. This process leaves behind both a dynamic spurt-like energy and a rich texture, with fragments of the agapantha embedded in the work itself.
Texture has become a hallmark of Luke’s practice, allowing him to bridge his experience of blindness with his painting. The layered surface not only captures a sense of motion and release but also invites a tactile connection, making the work resonate beyond the visual.
