This is Oliver Fontany’s second self portrait. He worked only with a mirror, a new challenge that forced him to abandon photos and rely on his own reflection.

Using the mirror, Oliver learned to map the contours of his face in new ways. He played with his reflection, even writing text on his apron that can only be read when seen through a mirror.

His signature numbers and dense linework fill the apron and background, turning them into patterned fields. The result is a bold and inventive self portrait that shows Oliver pushing his practice forward with confidence.
